Before you order

Good questions.

Do I need a kiln or an oven?
No. The clay hardens in the open air. Nothing gets baked or fired at any point.
How long does it take to dry?
Thin pieces are usually hard within 24 hours. Big, chunky ones can take 72 hours or more. The guide gives a timing for each project.
Can I eat or drink from what I make?
No, and we would rather say so up front. Air dry clay stays porous, and the varnish makes it water resistant, not waterproof. These are pieces to look at and use around the house: ring dishes, trays, vases with a jar inside, wall tiles. Keep them out of the dishwasher.
Is one kit enough for two people?
Yes. One box, 2 kg of clay, one set of tools and paints, plenty for two people to make together in an evening.
How many things can I make?
Six to eight small pieces, or two to four large ones. Clay that has not dried yet can be squashed and started again, so a first go you are not happy with is never wasted.
Do I get to choose the paint colours?
Yes. Pick Pastel or Bright at the top of this page, eight colours either way. There is also a no paints option if you already have your own. If you want one of our other palettes, Cosmic, Retro, Copenhagen or Minimalist, those come with the Recrafted Kit on the product page.
I have never made anything. Will it look bad?
It will look handmade, which is the whole point. The guide starts with a pinch bowl and a flat rolled dish, and every creation is worth celebrating.
Will it arrive in time for a birthday?
Orders before 2pm ship the same day, and tracked delivery runs 2 to 5 days across Australia. If the date is tight, message us first and we will tell you honestly whether it will make it.
